People at work can suffer injury or sudden illness. It is important that employers have made arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

HSE and First Aid at work

HSE (Health and Safety Executive)is responsible for the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (First-Aid) Regulations 1989.

These responsibilities include: 

  • Reviewing and maintaining the Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and guidance.
  • Responding to requests for information and advice
  • Enforcing the Regulations
  • Approving training organisations providing first aid at work, offshore first aid or offshore medic courses
